This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding that data. By using VEYL, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Overview

VEYL (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is an AI-powered voice coaching application developed and operated by Myndful Innovations LLC, 3240 Hewitt Ave, Aspen Hill, MD 20906, United States.

App Developer: This app is developed by Myndful Innovations LLC — not Apple Inc. or Google LLC. Myndful Innovations LLC is solely responsible for the app and its content.

Data We Collect

Consent Notice: Before VEYL collects or shares any of the data below, you will be asked to provide explicit consent via an in-app dialog. This consent is required to use AI coaching features.

2.1 Account Data

A unique anonymous identifier (Firebase UID) created when you first open the app. We do not require your name or email address to use VEYL.

2.2 Onboarding Preferences

  • Areas of life you want to focus on (e.g. work, relationships)
  • How you respond to stress
  • Your personal values and goals
  • Your preferred coaching style (direct, gentle, or balanced)
  • Whether you are currently working with a therapist (optional)

These are stored to personalise your coaching experience.

2.3 Session Data

  • Your text and voice messages within coaching sessions
  • AI-generated responses
  • Session metadata: date, duration, language, turn count
  • Detected emotional states, patterns, and themes (e.g. "overthinking", "perfectionism")
  • Micro-actions and reframes generated during sessions
  • A clarity alignment score calculated at the end of each session

2.4 Voice Data

When you use voice input, your audio is transmitted to OpenAI’s Whisper service for real-time transcription. The audio is not stored by VEYL after transcription is complete.

2.5 Safety Data

VEYL includes a two-layer safety detection system. If a potential crisis is detected in your session, the type of crisis (e.g. self-harm concern) is logged. The content of your messages is never shared with emergency services — we only display appropriate helpline resources within the app.

2.6 Notification Preferences

If you enable push notifications, we store a device token (FCM token) to send you session reminders and weekly reports. Notifications can be disabled at any time in your device settings.

4.1 Data Sharing with Third-Party AI Services

VEYL shares your personal data with third-party AI services to provide core functionality. Here is exactly what is shared and why:

  • Data Shared: Voice audio recordings (Whisper transcription), AI-generated text (Text-to-Speech)
  • Purpose: Transcribe voice to text, synthesise voice audio responses

3. Google Cloud (Text-to-Speech)

  • Data Shared: AI-generated text responses
  • Purpose: Convert text responses to voice audio for Hindi, Spanish, Turkish, and Russian sessions

How Data is Transmitted:

All data is transmitted via encrypted HTTPS connections. Third-party AI services process your data in real time to generate responses and are contractually prohibited from using your data to train their models.

User Consent:

Before any data is sent to third-party AI services, you will be asked to provide explicit consent via an in-app dialog. You can revoke this consent at any time in Settings, though this will disable core AI features.

Data Protection Guarantees:

  • All AI service providers maintain SOC 2 Type II compliance
  • Data is processed in secure, encrypted cloud environments
  • Your data is not sold to advertisers or used for marketing purposes
  • Third parties cannot access your personal identity — you remain pseudonymous via your Firebase UID

Data Storage and Security

  • Session data is stored in encrypted databases hosted in the United States.
  • Voice audio is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) and is not retained after transcription.
  • Your personal mind graph data (emotional patterns, values, goals) is stored under your anonymous Firebase UID — it is not linked to your real identity unless you choose to provide it.
  • We apply role-based access controls — only the VEYL backend can read your session data.

Sensitive Data

VEYL processes information that may be considered sensitive, including emotional states, stress responses, and mental health context (e.g. whether you work with a therapist).

This data is used exclusively to provide you with a personalised coaching experience. It is never shared with insurers, employers, advertisers, or any other third parties.

Third-Party AI Processing: Your sensitive data (emotional states, stress responses, therapy status) may be shared with Anthropic Claude and OpenAI for AI processing as described in Section 4.1. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and are prohibited from using it for their own purposes.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your session history
  • Opt out of push notifications at any time via device settings
  • Withdraw consent to AI data sharing via in-app Settings (this disables AI features)

Children's Privacy

VEYL is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has used the app, please contact us at care@veyl.co and we will delete the data promptly.

Mental Health Disclaimer

VEYL is a coaching tool — it is not a mental health treatment, therapy service, or medical device. It does not diagnose or treat any mental health condition. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or the emergency services in your country.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
